ProPlayer

ProPlayer instantly converts any PC into a professional video server capable of playing raw video or compressed video files. It can route the video into one or two TVs connected using BlackMagic video IO cards. ProPlayer is capable of playing of up to two HD video streams which can be displayed side-by-side separately on two TVs or on one TV in a split screen mode. Alternatively, ProPlayer can be used as a generic HD/SD video source using HDMI/HD-SDI/Optical fiber SDI.

If you are a video equipment developer and you need to frequently preview the video files, which were just generated or captured, or if you need to closely analyze and compare video quality of multiple clips, ProPlayer is the ultimate tool for this job.

Take the work with you on the road - connect Black Magic Intensity Shuttle or Ultra Studio SDI USB3 cards to your laptop, connect it to the TV in the hotel room using HDMI and you have the full setup to do your work wherever it needs to be done, with no compromises and no limitations.

There are other consumer and professional solutions on the market, but the consumer solutions do not support the full list of the video formats (often no support for 1080p60, 10-bit or 4:2:2), dual video output and certainly not the side-by-side dual video playback. Professional solutions are often prohibitively expensive and since they typically come as a standalone box, they take away the convenience of clicking on a file on your workstation and immediately seeing the result on the TV.

Home media PC connected to the TV over HDMI with the right software can perhaps achieve similar results, with one significant deficiency - you can never be sure what video processing is applied before the signal reaches the TV. There is always some rescaling, color corrections being applied, often the video is deinterlaced in software before it is sent to the TV as 1080p60, not mentioning synchronization issues. None of that is a concern with the dedicated Black Magic video I/O card, since they simply forward the raw video to the physical link.

ProPlayer is the latest project in the chain of video related tools I have created over the years. There is a chance that some of the tools or ideas from the Mpeg2 analyzer will end up in ProPlayer as well, since a streaming IP/ASI input would open up the door for many new and exciting possibilities.
